Hello and thanks for looking at my website. (which as you can tell is a bit of a work in progress)

.Having lived in the North-west of England all my life i have never been more then 90 minutes from the lakes so must have visited countless times over the years. Although we used to go on family camping holidays when i was young i can never remember climbing any big fells in fact we were your typical Bowness-Ambleside-Grasmere tourists. My first real encounter with the lakes came when i was 15 when i went on a week long  youth-hostelling holiday. I really enjoyed this but i can't say this turned me into an avid walker in fact probably the only time i went to the Lakes for a few years after that i would be speeding through on my motorcycle. This all changed when my eldest son Andrew was about 10yrs old. He asked if i would take him camping, this turned into a regular thing and  we naturally started walking the fells round the campsite. When talking to other walkers on the fells i started hearing about these "Wainwrights" and as we had just got the internet i rapidly found out a lot more about this bloke and his 214 fells. In 2007 when i was 46 i declared to anyone who would listen that i was going to try and walk the Wainwrights by the time i was 50. On most of the summer walks i am accompanied by my 14yr old Robert And my 11yr old James. In the last 12-18 months i have become really interested in back-packing and wild camping. When time and funds allow i would really like to have a go at a multi day walk such as the coast to coast or even the TGO challenge.
